1) Pregnant women:
Avoid if possible! Other aminoglycosides (streptomycin) have caused severe inner ear damages in the fetus.
2) Nursing mothers:
Only small am ounts can be traced in breast milk. Do not breast feed neonates; allowed with older infants.
3) Children :
Premature births and neonates: 4 to 5 mg/kg daily .
Older infants and children: 2.0 to 2.5 mg/kg every 8 hours.
4) Elderly people :
No known problems. The adjustment of the dose is not necessary.
5) Renal failure :
Even moderate insufficiency has its impact! First dose as usual; later-individual dosage according to plasma levels.
6) Liver insufficiency :
No dose adjustment necessary. |
